Mint Swim

So this may be an occurring theme on my blog but I love posting about reality stars that turn into fashion designers. So this week it will be about Draya Michele. VH1's Basketball Wives LA star Draya Michele has made her own line of bathing suits called “Mint Swim”. The bathing suits debuted in Spring 2012, but were shown on an episode of this season of BBWLA. These bathing suits are no ordinary ones, lets start with the price range. The prices range from $75 dollars and sale items go as low as $45 dollars. There are a variety of styles and pretty colors for a beautiful day at the beach, pool, or just to tan in you will do it fabulously. Right now all that debuted were four pieces from the collection, which are available at http://www.mint-swim.com.  Draya is known for being the pretty girl with the funny and daring personality so it wasn’t that much of a surprise when she announced her line on the show.  This season she seems care less about the drama and more about her business but of course drama will always follow. She is very excited and confident that everyone will be happy with her “Mint Swim” collection. Can’t wait to see what else the collection will bring. It hasn’t been stated yet when the next half of her line will arrive but I’m sure the anticipation is killing everyone. So to give a little sneak peek here’s a taste of Draya Michele’s Mint Swim. Hope you enjoy!

Who wore it best? Part 2

Last week I had so much fun doing the “Who Wore It Best” blog post I’d thought I would do another. So this week I found colorful and fun patterns to add in and another sister throw down between the Kardashian sisters. As always I will put my input in whom I thought wore it best.  So let the fun begin!

 Kerry Washington and Petra Nemcova

This dress is absolutely beautiful, I think both of the ladies look gorgeous in it but I must say I think Kerry Washington wore it best. She looks so stunning like there is a glow surrounding her. Her curly locks and small round clutch looks amazing but still doesn’t take away the detail of the dress. Congrats Kerry you look fabulous.

Khloe Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian

Both the blouse and skirt are from their Kardashian Kollection, which is available at Sears. The sisters are definitely showing off their collection and it couldn’t look any better but of course having sisters it is always a competition. But I think Kourtney won this round of “Sister throw down”. The colors look so nice on her and her hair pulled back makes everything fall into place. Kim and Khloe also look great but I just like how it fits Kourtney with her black pumps. Great Job!

Zoe Saldana and Fergie

I think Zoe is rocking this dress. The color is amazing on hair and her straight long black hair matches this look perfectly. I also like Zoe’s shoe choice those shoes had to the dress and matches so daringly, I like this a lot. Now, Fergie looks nice as well but I’m not a fan of the color choice but she still looks good in the silver and green combo.

"Hannah Who"?

It’s December 1, 2012 and the year is almost over. We now have to look forward to what 2013 will bring us. But I thought it would be cool to look at some dramatic transformations we saw this year from celebrities who were sweet and innocent but now look sexy and daring. One transformation I think shocked everyone is that of  Miley Cyrus. She went from her lovely brown beach waves to a shorthair platinum blonde babe. Although many have criticized  this new cut, I may have been one of them but she did it for a good cause. She donated her hair to a cancer charity and has now helped a girl in need. Even though what she did was great it’s still hard to believe she was once “Hannah Montana” on Disney Channel. Even though she has changed her appearance we must accept the fact she is also a regular person just like us so I see it as her expressing her creativity on by changing her looks and that’s what fashion is all about. I actually think she looks more mature and like a young woman instead of the girl we knew on Disney Channel and I think she wanted to let the world know that.  So let's take a look at the transformation.

WHO WORE IT BEST?

So I thought it would be fun to do a “Who Wore It Best?” blog post. Looking through magazines you see a lot of them, and now I'd like to choose my favorite ones and talk about why I like them and whom I think wore the dress better.

Jennifer Lopez and Brooklyn Decker in Michael Kors.

Pink is my favorite color and I didn’t think it could get any better than it already is. I think Jennifer Lopez wore this pink Michael Kors dress better than Brooklyn Decker. This dress to me is meant for a curvier woman and J-Lo fills out the dress perfectly. Nude shoes like the ones Brooklyn Decker has on would usually work with this color dress but Jennifer Lopez’s black open toe pumps are really eye-catching.

Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian: Sister Throw-Down

The Kardashian sisters strike again. Besides providing entertainment, if these reality TV stars know anything it's how to dress. I think this color really goes well with their skin tone and brightens them up. But I must say I think Khloe Kardashian wore it better, because she is taller and the dress hugs her more and fits her better.

  Fergie and Julianne Hough

A sexy black dress goes a long way, or (short in this case.) This dress looks gorgeous on both of them but I think Fergie wore it best. She totally took the look and made it her own from head to toe she just looks great. I think because of how the dress is cut in the front, it's best to pull the hair back or up to show the detail of the dress.

30 Second Commercial

Another class assignment this semester was a 30 second radio commercial. The product I chose was 5-hour energy shots with Drake's 'The Motto Instrumental'. Hope you enjoy!

MOS Project

For class I had to do a ''Man on the Street" assignment with a topic of my choice. I got to ask anyone I wanted to describe their style. I really enjoyed this project and I hope you enjoy the video.

Question of the day: How would you define your style?

From Reality TV to the Runway!

Reality TV stars have much more to offer than just making drama for our amusements on television. As we seen in my last post Sammi “ SweetHeart” Giancola from ‘The Jersey Shore’ launched her clothing line of workout gear. Now VH1 reality stars Chrissy Lampkin and Emily B and another friend named Talia launched their line of men’s leather jackets in August but aired on the reality show Chrissy and Mr. Jones last week.  Their line is called ‘Cisum Couture’ and it’s only for men. Many people know Emily B. as a personal stylist to many athletes and rapper Fabulous and Vh1’s original Love and Hip Hop.  Chrissy is also known from Love and Hip Hop but also being rapper Jim Jones longtime girlfriend. The line has been talked about throughout the show and now it has finally arrived. It’s a combination of the their image of an ideal man. Not much information has been said as to where the Jackets would be sold but it will definitely be more on the high-end fashion side.
Its nice to see that reality starts can bring much more to the table and have a plan after their five minutes of fame are over on television. I hope they have much success with the new clothing line and maybe they will be interested in doing jackets for women as well.

What's interesting on the campaign trail this week?

The 2012 Campaign trail is finally over. With the debates to appearances on tv we can now breath easy. With 303 electoral votes and only 270 needed, President Barack Obama was re-elected and I couldn't be any happier. This was also my first time voting and I know my vote counted and my voice was heard. I am so happy to have had this experience and done something so important. Congratulations President Obama on being re-elected can't wait to see what you do with the next four years!

This week holds one of the most important days of the year. Tuesday, November 6th is Election Day. Since we have been following the campaign trail and focusing on what both candidates have to say, it is now that time to make your voice heard by choosing which candidate you think is better suited for the great job of being President of the United States. So please make sure you vote the next 4 years will be very dependant on your decision.

DID YOU KNOW ?

Did you know that The Jersey Shore "Sweetheart" has a clothing line?  I recently found out that Sammi Giancola has an clothing line of workout gear for the girls who love to GTL. The line is called "Sammi Sweetheart collection for SXE fitness", it debuted during New York Fashion Week and has a spread in SHAPE magazine.

In her interview with Shape magazine she said, I created the line to give women something to feel great exercising in." The line consists of bras, tanks, cami's, and jackets that are paired with capri pants. Everything is made from supplex, a lighter-than-cotton material that breathes well as it wicks sweat and supposedly hinders the spread of odor-causing bacteria. "

Here's a video of her talking about the line backstage during New York Fashion Week from Hollywoodlife. com Now that Jersey Shore is in its final season, I am happy that most of the casts members are branching off and doing their own thing. I wish Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola as well as the other Shore mates much success.

What's Interesting about the Campaign this week?

What I found interesting about the campaign this week is the new SNL skit about the second Presidential debate. With Election Day in a couple weeks things are starting to get real personal and real serious, really fast. So to throw in a laugh I thinkthis SNL skit does the job. From the body language to the talking over each other it captures the night with a funny twist.
Check it out.

Hope you enjoy!

What's interesting on the campaign this week?

What I found interesting about the campaign this week was the new Obama ad that makes fun of Mitt Romney's "Big Bird" comment.  Since we know how Romney feels about Big Bird, we get to see how Obama feels. " Mitt Romney knows it's not Wall Street you have to worry about; it's Sesame Street", says the narrator in the video.  The new Obama ad is very entertaining but because of the humor, many feel it may hurt him in the election.

What do you think?

InStyle October 2012 Fragrances

Hello all, so today I was looking at the new October issue of InStyle magazine and I found seven new great fragrances being advertised. The smells of the fragrances are unbelievable; they range from fruity, feminine, and sexy and let me tell you this is something I had to share. So let me not keep you waiting, and maybe you can them at your local department store. :)

1. Gucci Premiere (Gucci.com)

2. FLOWERBOMB ( First Perfume by Viktor & Rolf)

( Nordstom, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Sephora )

3. Ralph Lauren Romance (Sephora or Sephora.com)

4. Chance Chanel (Nordstrom)

5. Prada Candy (Bloomingdales, Macy's, Nordstrom)

6. Daisy Marc Jacobs (Sephora)

7.  Lancome La vie est belle (Life is beautiful) (lancome.com)

Breast Cancer Awareness Month  (Quick Information)
October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month and while looking through InStyle magazine I found something very interesting. Ralph Lauren has an organization called Pink Pony . The Pink Pony fund is Ralph Lauren's worldwide initiative in the fight against cancer. Their mission is to reduce disparities in cancer care
and help women who are less fortunate in getting
treatment in medically underserved communities .

Thanks again for reading Underground Class

With love,

First Wall Street Now Sesame Street

This was a very interesting week on the campaign trail. This past Wednesday was the first presidential debate and, of course Mitt Romney made headlines the next day. One thing that caught everyone's attention was the "Big Bird" comment made by Mitt Romney that said "I'm going to stop the subsidy to PBS ... I like PBS. I love Big Bird. But I'm not going to keep spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for it." Big Bird is one of the most lovable and memorable characters on Sesame Street. Once again Mitt Romney is attacking the underdog!

Interview with my cool classmate Michael

So this week I got to talk with Com 1002 classmate Michael Faucher. I got to know him a little more outside of the classroom and let me tell you he is pretty cool. Don't believe me?  Check out the interview for yourselves. Hope you enjoy!

Here are some excerpts from the interview.
 Q: Where are you from?

A: "I am from a small town in upstate New York called Castancha near the Syracuse area."

Q2: So you know how people that aren't from the city sometimes say "The city has changed them or an opinion that they had " do you feel the same?

A: "I don't feel the city has necessarily changed who I am as a person but it has opened me up to a lot of new experiences and has validated some of my preconceptions about it, not in a bad way but there is differently a lot to do here and I am enjoying it a lot more then my hometown at the moment".

 Q3: What are you studying?

A: "Right now I am studying Journalism and it has played a big part in the fact that I have gotten into the radio station and that's been a big part in my time here".

What's interesting on the campaign this week ?

I didn't find anything interesting on the campaign trail this week. I did however, register to vote (round of applause!) and I am very excited to be voting for the first time. To register I visited Rock the Vote and it was quick and easy. So if you are not registered to vote, join now and become a registered voter just like me.

Go register today!

What's interesting about the campaign this week ?

For class we had to post what we found most interesting about the campaign this week. Since I know my classmates will post the 47% comment made by Mitt Romney, I decided to have a little fun with my post. This is what I found most interesting about the campaign this week, a Saturday Night Live skit on how Ann Romney feels about the campaign.  I found this interesting because usually when you see the spouse of the candidate on a show it always brings attention to see how they feel about the campaign trail and with a First lady like Michelle Obama, Ann Romney has big competition.

Check out the video!
