Interview with my cool classmate Michael

So this week I got to talk with Com 1002 classmate Michael Faucher. I got to know him a little more outside of the classroom and let me tell you he is pretty cool. Don't believe me?  Check out the interview for yourselves. Hope you enjoy!

Here are some excerpts from the interview.
 Q: Where are you from?

A: "I am from a small town in upstate New York called Castancha near the Syracuse area."

Q2: So you know how people that aren't from the city sometimes say "The city has changed them or an opinion that they had " do you feel the same?

A: "I don't feel the city has necessarily changed who I am as a person but it has opened me up to a lot of new experiences and has validated some of my preconceptions about it, not in a bad way but there is differently a lot to do here and I am enjoying it a lot more then my hometown at the moment".

 Q3: What are you studying?

A: "Right now I am studying Journalism and it has played a big part in the fact that I have gotten into the radio station and that's been a big part in my time here".

What's interesting on the campaign this week ?

I didn't find anything interesting on the campaign trail this week. I did however, register to vote (round of applause!) and I am very excited to be voting for the first time. To register I visited Rock the Vote and it was quick and easy. So if you are not registered to vote, join now and become a registered voter just like me.

Go register today!

What's interesting about the campaign this week ?

For class we had to post what we found most interesting about the campaign this week. Since I know my classmates will post the 47% comment made by Mitt Romney, I decided to have a little fun with my post. This is what I found most interesting about the campaign this week, a Saturday Night Live skit on how Ann Romney feels about the campaign.  I found this interesting because usually when you see the spouse of the candidate on a show it always brings attention to see how they feel about the campaign trail and with a First lady like Michelle Obama, Ann Romney has big competition.

Check out the video!

Celeb Secret Accessories

Many times we may see fabulous things on a celeb via
magazine or on television and never know where to find them .We all know that celebs hate sharing their secrets and hey, when it's something good sometimes how can be blame them? With a lot of investigating through the various social media we have, I have discovered one that I am happy to have found! This great accessory designer goes by the name of Melody Eshani

Eshani is from Los Angeles, California and finds
inspiration to design from her culture and woman.  Eshani
said "My style is inspired by paradox, controversy, justice
and pushing the envelope in showing that you truly can't judge a book by its cover. I design to upset the equilibrium. I design to inspire. I design to serve. I design because I was created to do so." Buying her products also helps by giving back to the community. Each pair of Eshani shoes purchased goes towards the advancement of education for women. That’s Great!! Fashion + Charity= LOVE!!!

Check Out her great website and maybe you will find inspiration too!!

Fall Make-up Trends

Every woman knows there are things we just can't live without, clothes, shoes, handbags and most importantly MAKEUP! Some of my favorite things about this season have finally arrived in the Fall Make-up trends. Since Fashion Week was last week and the excitement has died down, the fall 2012 make-up trends are now officially in! So let me get you updated.

Common trends you will see are:
  •  The Bold lip
  •  Winged liner
  • Defined brows
  • Smokey browns
  • Natural faces
  • Multi-toned eyes

                                                        Picture :Gucci
                                                         Picture: Lanvin
Picture: J. Mendel
                                                          Picture: Burberry
                                                              Picture: Michael Kors
Picture: Prabal Gurrung

Harper's Bazaar, a fashion magazine confirmed that these trends were seen down the runway during Fashion Week. Magazines such as InStyle and Cosmo's September issues have shown rainbow palettes on eye shadow with bright colors and Dark winged eyeliner. Fall is definitely the season for expression! A few great things about make-up are that you don't have to be a professional to pull of these runway looks. Even professionals need help sometimes, and a lot of professionals or people just looking to get better, watch how-to video's on YouTube or a magazine's website. I personally look at YouTube for all the make-up tricks that everyone doesn't know and I love it, I'm sure you will too.

Photo Essay

Even though this is a blog about underground fashion this is still a part of a class grade. So at times I will post
things unrelated to my blog for a class participation
grade (an A)!! Our class assignment for this week was to put together a photo essay.

The photo essay consisted of 5 photos:
  • Long shot of a building on campus
  • Close-up of the same building
  • Self-portrait in front of the building
  • Group picture of people posed
  • Picture of people walking
Let's see how I did!

Introduction

Hey everyone my name is Tyra Jarvis and I attend St. Johns University I am a junior, studying Public Relations and I love it!  My hobbies are dancing, make-up, and shopping. I have an Internship for an up-and-coming blog/styling company so I figured it would be fun to make a blog based on beauty and fashion. This blog is for class participation and will contribute into my overall grade. I decided to name my blog "Underground Class,” because I like to share things I find that I know people like me would enjoy. I spend a lot of time on the Internet and always come across amazing secrets that many people don't know exist, when it comes to beauty and fashion such as new and unknown designers, online stores, and celeb stylists.  I am new to this and I hope I can succeed with my new blog.  I hope you enjoy and thanks for reading Underground Class.

Sincerely,
    Tyra
